I am a 35 year old single mom, raising my six year old son on my own.
I work full time as the Regional Marketing Manager for a nationally
published magazine, in my hometown of St.Louis, Missouri. I am a
survivor of domestic violence, having endured 12 years of extreme
verbal and physical assaults, harassment and stalking that still
continues, four years and five protection orders later. (Fellow
survivors know these worthless orders are as effective as the local
law enforcement, when your life is in danger). The abusive man is my
child's father. This means that no matter how many times he tried to
kill me with his own two hands -and just missed crushing our son's
skull in the process, the court apparently feels he has a split
personality, and can become a wonderfully loving, non-violent man
during his visitations. I believe Domestic Violence is a felony - it
is "drawn-out" Attempted Murder, if they do not succeed in killing
their victims. I also volunteer, to assist women and children in
crisis - I will do anything to help support a woman who is struggling,
and needs a positive word, a business suit, make-up, assistance
writing a resume, etc. - whatever inspiration is needed to break free,
if possible, and start to live again. We need speak the truth, hold
HIM accountable, renew our faith in God, and forgive ourselves and
empower ourselves - to show our children what is safe and what is love.
