Name: Melissa A. Kagan
Dear PWOTW, My name is Melissa Kagan, and I am a 21 year old college student. I do not have a website, but I do have an interesting story to share. I have had a learning disability for many years, and I have still completed much school. Currently, I am attending Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, and I seem to be doing pretty well in my classes. I am the recent survivor of a horrible car accident, back in May of 1998. I did not think rationally that night due to a fight with my x-boyfriend, and I attempted to drive myself home from a bar after drinking a little bit too much. I had to take the highway home, and had my accident on the exit ramp. I ran a stop-sign on the end of the ramp, and then I ran into a cement wall traveling around 60-70 miles per hour in my Honda Prelude. I suffered a pretty major head injury, and then I was in a coma for over 3 weeks after the accident. I mainly damaged the right side of the front of my head, which caused a short-term memory loss to occur. I have forgotten many of the details of the happenings in my life during the last few years; I mainly only remember long-term details and happenings. I am now starting over though, and I am attending a very good college in order to prepare for what I hope will be a very good and meaningful life. I have gotten very wise on the fact that drinking and driving do NOT go along together; that combination can be very dangerous to my health and/or the health and safty of others. I feel like a very phenomenal woman who has been through a lot, and is still kicking. Sincerely, Melissa Kagan
