Hello, My name is Bonnie Jo and I am excited to possibly be accepted
into TPWOTW. I am a 50-year-old woman, recently divorced. I have and
still am raising twin children who are 20 years old now! My daughter is
attending college in Maine while her twin brother is attending local
college here and living with me. They are and have been the biggest joy
of my life. I was an active mother and volunteer for 15 years while my
kids grew up and I grew with them! By a twist of fate or an act of God,
I was led into a field I had never even known existed! I began working
for an agency that provides all services for Developmentally Disabled
adults. Somehow I wound up creating my own job involving all aspects of
technology. My thought was to help in all ways to provide job training,
equal access to computers, and/or any devices that were not accessible
to a handicapped person. A long story but one I am proud of! I just
recently completed and rec'd certification as an Assistive Technology
Practitioner. It was a big decision for me and 100 hours of time, on
the computer and 40 hours of live instruction in another state. I had
to pay for it myself and take a leave of absence in order to do the
work. Now, I have decided to "work as a consultant" and do what I do
without some of the politics and problems that have hampered some of my
attempts. I love what I do! Also, I am spending time on myself for once
and seriously learning the guitar. I am a singer/songwriter but never
really was able to play "what I heard". Now, I have begun too. I am in
the process of building a website for a partner and myself. We are CHAT
which stands for Communication Habilitation And Technology. Life is
great with the right attitude and a never give up daily philosophy!
