I turned 40 years old in August of 1999. To show for my 40 years, I
have two beautiful daughters, both fully grown. One just turned 22
and the other will be 21 in May. I'm a single mother and my girls are
my greatest accomplishment. I had them very young so in their best
interest, I continued to live with my parents. They are both strong
and intelligent women. They both attend college at Saint Martin's
College in Lacey, Washington, and even though I have paid for both of
their educations, I did not let anything get in my way of completing
my goal...getting my MBA. All three of us women attending the same
college at the same time, sounds pretty incredible. But I would never
deny my girls anything in life, especially an education, and moreover,
I feel that I need to be a good role model for them by completing my
education as well.
I've suffered quite a few hardships in my life in the past two years.
My mother died in January of 1998 and not more than a year afterward,
my father remarried. It's been almost two years now and we are still
going through my mother's belongings. We had to move into a smaller
house due to not being able to afford a large house without my
mother's income, and it seems like too many things have sentimental
value to part with. I know this is inevitable but my daughters and I
are taking it one step at a time.
It seems as if my career is taking off, as I've been asked to take on
several more responsibilities and have finally achieved my higher
salary.
Everything I do, I do for my girls. They are my life and my greatest
motivation. They support me in everything I do, as I do for them on a
daily basis. I love them with all my heart and for that I feel that I
am a phenomonal woman.
